Los Angeles, années 1970. C'est le temps des hippies, de la liberté d'expression et de la rupture des schémas conventionnels. Dans ce contexte, la styliste Geri Cusenza a conçu le premier fer à plaque ondulée pour les cheveux et ainsi créer de nouveaux looks adaptés au sens "sans peur"  typique de l'époque.
Plus tard, avec son mari John Sebastian, elle a fondé la marque Sebastian Professional, qui contient toujours tous les produits nécessaires à la création de coiffures originales et pionnières.
